CELEBRATION OF PAULA’S LIFE SERVICE will be at 1 p.m. at the church with Pastor Mike Root officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois.

Paula Elaine (Brotherton) Sheridan, 62, Oblong, IL is now celebrating in Glory with family and friends that have gone on before her. Paula passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 in her home surrounded by family.
Paula was born on June 11, 1953 the daughter of Robert Brotherton and Elaine (Coulter) Brotherton of Stoy, IL. She married David Sheridan on March 6, 1971.
Paula is survived by her husband David Sheridan of Oblong, IL; a daughter Polly (Sheridan) and husband Mike Launay of Mt. Vernon, IL; a son Dirk Sheridan and his wife Chrissy Sheridan of Oblong, IL; two maternal grandchildren Cascinda Sheridan and Liam Sheridan; 5 step-grandchildren Melina Launay, Seth Launay, Jillian Launay, Nathan Launay and Preston Sutmaier; her sister Bobbie (Brotherton) Keyes and husband Chet Keys of Oblong, IL; her brother Robert (Bo) Brotherton and his wife Sara Brotherton of Oblong, IL; her Aunt Patricia Coulter of Robinson, IL; a cousin Terry Brotherton of Charleston, IL; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Paula is preceded in death by her father Robert Brotherton and her mother Elaine Brotherton.
Paula was a member of the Oblong High School class of 1971; Olney Central College with a Business Associate Degree in 1973; was a Secretary for St. Pierre Oil Company Newton, IL for many years. Paula was a dedicated member of Cornerstone Wesleyan Church of Oblong, IL where she played the piano, organ, taught Sunday School and was involved with the youth programs. Paula had been involved in the Oblong Public Library for many years and touched many young lives through the Summer Reading Program. She was also involved in leading Girl Scout Troop 2561 for many years and helped a lot of young girls in their informative years. Paula taught piano lessons for almost 25 years out of her home in Oblong and taught many children and adults the love of music.
Paula loved to go mushroom hunting, planting flowers, gardening, going 4 wheeling, knitting, crocheting, sewing, making cards, scrapbooking, shopping at Goodwill and playing Scrabble. She loved watching movies, and especially loved watching the Walton’s. Paula liked to spend time with her husband, kids, and grandkids and loved them all dearly. She loved her dog Kyle who was her sidekick and went everywhere with her.
